Workplace Organisation and 5S for Industrial Sites

Cluttered stores, mislabelled parts, and lost tools cost South African plants and warehouses hours of hidden downtime every week, yet workplace organisation is often treated as a once off cleanup rather than a discipline. This course teaches the 5S methodology step by step, from sorting and setting in order through to building the standards and audits that keep a workplace organised long term.

What you will be able to do

  • Explain the five stages of the 5S methodology and why each stage matters.
  • Sort work areas to separate needed items from clutter and obsolete stock.
  • Design a set in order layout that reduces walking, searching, and handling time.
  • Apply visual standards for cleanliness, labelling, and equipment condition on the shop floor.
  • Develop a 5S audit checklist suited to a specific site or department.
  • Sustain 5S gains through routine audits, scoring, and management follow up.
