Work Measurement, Time Study and Production Line Balancing
Uneven workloads and unmeasured cycle times leave many African production lines with idle stations at one point and bottlenecks at another, wasting labour and capacity. This course equips teams to conduct time studies, set fair standard times, and balance work across stations so output rises without extra headcount. Participants practise stopwatch studies, rating, allowance setting and line balancing on realistic factory scenarios.
What you will be able to do
Conduct a stopwatch time study and record observed times accurately.
Apply performance rating and allowances to calculate a standard time.
Calculate takt time from customer demand and available working time.
Balance tasks across workstations to reduce idle time and bottlenecks.
Identify and remove wasted motion within a work cycle.
Use standard times to plan labour, capacity and daily targets.
