Value Engineering and Cost Optimisation for Products and Services

Rising input costs and tight margins push African businesses to cut price in ways that damage quality and reputation. Value engineering takes a disciplined route instead, analysing the functions a product or service must deliver and finding lower cost ways to provide them. This course teaches teams to separate cost from value, challenge unnecessary features, and redesign offerings so they cost less while still meeting customer needs.

What you will be able to do

  • Distinguish between cost, price, and value in an offering.
  • Break a product or service down into its core functions.
  • Cost each function and identify poor value areas.
  • Generate alternative ways to deliver required functions.
  • Evaluate alternatives against quality, risk, and savings.
  • Build a business case for value engineering changes.
