Triage Systems and Clinical Prioritisation for Health Facilities

Strengthen the front door of busy African health facilities where limited staff must sort large volumes of walk in patients safely and fairly. Participants practise structured triage scales, red flag recognition and queue prioritisation used in district hospitals, community clinics and casualty units to reduce dangerous delays and overcrowding. The course draws on real high volume scenarios common across public and private settings in the region.

What you will be able to do

  • Apply recognised triage scales to sort patients by clinical urgency.
  • Identify red flag symptoms that require immediate escalation.
  • Design patient flow and queue management systems for high volume clinics.
  • Standardise triage documentation and handover between shifts.
  • Coach frontline staff to reduce under triage and over triage errors.
  • Monitor triage performance and waiting time indicators for improvement.
