Infection Prevention and Control Programme Management

Infection prevention succeeds or fails on management systems: who audits hand hygiene compliance, who signs off the cleaning contract, how healthcare risk waste leaves the site, and whether surveillance data reaches the people who can act on it. The programme side of infection control is the focus.

What you will be able to do

  • Structure an infection prevention committee with clear reporting lines to facility management.
  • Collect and interpret surveillance data on healthcare associated infections.
  • Audit hand hygiene, cleaning and isolation practice and report results in a usable form.
  • Specify and monitor environmental cleaning and healthcare risk waste contracts.
  • Plan the supply of protective equipment and consumables against outbreak scenarios.
  • Coordinate a facility outbreak response alongside district and provincial structures.
