Total Productive Maintenance and Equipment Reliability

Unplanned breakdowns cost more than the repair. Grid instability and hard starts after load shedding have shortened equipment life across South African industry, and this programme responds with autonomous and planned maintenance, effectiveness measurement, spares strategy and a plan built around actual failure data.

What you will be able to do

  • Measure overall equipment effectiveness correctly and diagnose which of the six losses dominates.
  • Set up autonomous maintenance routines that operators will realistically complete each shift.
  • Build a planned maintenance schedule from failure history rather than from supplier defaults.
  • Assess how power interruptions and restarts damage motors, drives and control equipment.
  • Determine critical spares holdings using failure rates, lead times and downtime cost.
  • Track maintenance performance with a small set of indicators that drive decisions.
