Tolerance Analysis and Engineering Specification Setting for Quality

When specifications are set too tight or too loose, African manufacturers pay through needless rework, assembly problems or unhappy customers. This course teaches teams how to set defensible tolerances, analyse how individual part tolerances stack up in an assembly, and align specifications with real process capability. Participants work through tolerance stack up exercises drawn from practical manufacturing situations.

What you will be able to do

  • Explain the cost consequences of tolerances that are too tight or too loose.
  • Interpret dimensional tolerances on engineering drawings.
  • Perform worst case and statistical tolerance stack up analysis.
  • Align specifications with demonstrated process capability.
  • Negotiate practical tolerances with design and customer teams.
  • Document specification decisions for production and inspection use.
