Supply Chain and Cargo Security Risk Management

Truck hijackings on the N3 and N1 corridors, cargo theft at rail sidings and pilferage inside distribution centres each demand a different control response. This course equips logistics, warehouse and security staff to assess cargo risk across the transport chain, secure loads and seals, screen drivers and third party carriers, and coordinate with police and industry crime prevention units when a load is compromised.

What you will be able to do

  • Map the points along a transport route where cargo is most exposed to theft or hijacking.
  • Apply seal integrity, tracking and route risk controls to high value or high risk loads.
  • Screen and vet drivers, transporters and third party logistics providers before granting them access.
  • Design warehouse and cross dock controls that reduce pilferage without slowing throughput.
  • Respond to a hijacking or cargo theft incident in line with an agreed action plan.
  • Coordinate with SAPS, private escort providers and industry crime prevention structures during recovery efforts.
