Crisis Management and Business Continuity Planning

A blocked N3, a week of load shedding or unrest near a distribution centre can stop trading faster than any cyber incident. Continuity planning starts with business impact analysis, then moves to recovery strategies, crisis communication and running an operations centre while the disruption is still unfolding.

What you will be able to do

  • Conduct a business impact analysis that identifies critical processes and their maximum tolerable downtime.
  • Build recovery strategies for premises, people, systems and suppliers within a stated budget.
  • Establish a crisis management team with clear activation triggers and decision authority.
  • Prepare civil unrest and access denial contingencies for retail, logistics and industrial operations.
  • Draft holding statements and internal messages for use in the first hours of an incident.
  • Test a continuity plan through desktop and simulation exercises, then close the gaps found.
