Security Risk Assessment and Threat Vulnerability Analysis

Guard numbers and camera counts mean little without a defensible assessment of what could go wrong, how likely it is and what it would cost. This programme takes delegates through a structured methodology for identifying threats, rating vulnerabilities, calculating risk and translating findings into a costed security plan that a board or client can approve, using case studies from South African commercial and industrial sites.

What you will be able to do

  • Identify credible threats to a site using crime statistics, incident history and intelligence sources.
  • Rate the vulnerability of critical assets, people and information against each identified threat.
  • Calculate risk by combining likelihood, impact and existing control effectiveness into a single score.
  • Prioritise security investment using a cost benefit approach that a board will understand.
  • Present assessment findings and recommendations in a report suited to executive decision makers.
  • Review and update a security risk assessment as a site, threat or operation changes.
