School and Campus Safety and Emergency Management

Schools, colleges and university campuses across Africa face intrusions, gang activity, protests and the everyday challenge of controlling large numbers of learners during an emergency. This course equips education managers and campus security teams to assess site vulnerabilities, run lockdown and evacuation drills and coordinate with parents, police and emergency services. The focus is practical routines that protect learners and staff without turning campuses into fortresses.

What you will be able to do

  • Assess safety vulnerabilities across school buildings, grounds, gates and transport points.
  • Develop lockdown, evacuation and shelter procedures suited to different age groups.
  • Manage access control and visitor screening in a busy campus environment.
  • Coordinate emergency response with police, clinics and community structures.
  • Prepare staff and learners through drills, briefings and clear communication.
  • Respond to bullying, weapons and substance incidents within school policy.
