Reliability and Maintainability Engineering for Quality Improvement

Unreliable equipment is a leading cause of quality defects, missed deliveries, and firefighting in African operations. Reliability and maintainability engineering brings data and method to understanding why assets fail and how quickly they can be restored. This course teaches practitioners to analyse failure data, quantify reliability, and design out chronic problems so that equipment supports consistent quality output.

What you will be able to do

  • Explain reliability, availability, and maintainability concepts.
  • Collect and analyse equipment failure and repair data.
  • Calculate mean time between failures and mean time to repair.
  • Apply distribution analysis to understand failure patterns.
  • Prioritise chronic failures for engineering solutions.
  • Design maintenance and improvement actions that raise reliability.
