Quality Management for Mining and Heavy Industry Operations

Mining houses and heavy industry operations across Southern Africa face unique quality challenges, from variable ore grades and harsh site conditions to long maintenance shutdowns and remote supply chains. This course applies quality management principles to mining and heavy industry contexts, covering process quality control, contractor and supplier oversight, shutdown quality planning, and nonconformance management suited to remote sites and demanding operating environments.

What you will be able to do

  • Explain the quality challenges specific to mining and heavy industry operating environments.
  • Apply process quality control to variable ore grades and blended feed materials.
  • Design contractor and supplier oversight arrangements suited to remote mine sites.
  • Plan quality checkpoints into major maintenance and plant shutdown schedules.
  • Manage nonconformances where corrective action may be delayed by site logistics.
  • Build a quality reporting structure that works across dispersed operations and shifts.
