Mine Site Security and Illegal Mining Response

Illegal mining, syndicate theft of gold, copper and chrome and armed incursions threaten workers, revenue and the licence to operate across African mining regions. This course helps mine security teams protect shafts, plants and product flows while managing the complex community and safety dimensions of illegal mining. Participants learn asset protection, product accounting and coordinated response that reduces losses without escalating conflict on and around the lease.

What you will be able to do

  • Assess security threats across shafts, plants, stockpiles and product flows.
  • Design controls that protect high value product from theft and diversion.
  • Respond to illegal mining incursions safely and within the law.
  • Coordinate with police, communities and management on illegal mining risk.
  • Reconcile and account for product to detect losses and collusion early.
  • Balance firm security with community relations and worker safety.
