Mass Notification and Emergency Communication Systems

When an emergency strikes a campus, factory or office park, getting the right message to thousands of people in seconds saves lives, yet many organisations rely on shouting and word of mouth. This course helps emergency managers design and run mass notification systems using sirens, public address, SMS, WhatsApp and app based alerts. Delegates learn to write clear alert messages, manage the technology and avoid the confusion that comes from poorly worded warnings.

What you will be able to do

  • Design a mass notification system suited to the site, its people and local networks.
  • Select and combine channels such as sirens, public address, SMS and WhatsApp.
  • Write clear, actionable emergency messages that prevent panic and confusion.
  • Maintain accurate contact data and test the system without causing alarm.
  • Coordinate notification with evacuation, lockdown and shelter procedures.
  • Review notification performance after drills and real incidents.
