Humanitarian Disaster Response and Relief Logistics Coordination

Floods, cyclones, drought and displacement regularly force African governments and organisations to mount large relief operations, and success depends on disciplined logistics and coordination. This course prepares response coordinators to move relief supplies, manage staging areas and work within the humanitarian coordination structures used across the continent. Delegates learn needs assessment, supply pipeline management, distribution planning and the safety of relief teams operating in disaster zones.

What you will be able to do

  • Conduct rapid needs assessments in the aftermath of a disaster.
  • Plan and manage relief supply pipelines from source to affected communities.
  • Run staging areas, warehouses and distribution points under field conditions.
  • Coordinate with government, United Nations clusters and partner organisations.
  • Manage the safety, security and welfare of relief teams in disaster zones.
  • Track distributions and account for relief resources transparently.
