High Rise Building Emergency and Evacuation Management

Tall office towers and residential high rises present evacuation challenges that ground level plans simply cannot solve, from stairwell congestion to trapped occupants and mobility impaired residents. As African cities build ever higher, property teams must plan for these realities. This course prepares building managers and marshals to run safe, staged evacuations and coordinate emergencies across many floors.

What you will be able to do

  • Assess the specific emergency risks of tall and multi tenant buildings.
  • Design staged and phased evacuation plans that prevent stairwell overload.
  • Coordinate floor wardens and marshals across many levels during an incident.
  • Plan assisted evacuation for mobility impaired and vulnerable occupants.
  • Manage refuge areas, lifts and communication during high rise emergencies.
  • Run drills and liaise with fire services on tall building response.
