Gemba Walks and Daily Management for Frontline Quality

Quality problems in South African operations are often discovered too late, in reports and audits, rather than at the place where the work actually happens. This course teaches leaders how to run effective gemba walks and daily management routines so problems are seen, discussed, and solved at the point of work. Participants practise structured observation, respectful questioning, and short daily huddles that build a culture of ownership on the shop floor.

What you will be able to do

  • Explain the purpose of going to the place where work happens to see reality.
  • Plan and conduct a structured gemba walk without disrupting production.
  • Ask questions that surface problems without blaming frontline staff.
  • Run short daily huddles around visual boards and simple metrics.
  • Escalate problems that cannot be solved at the frontline through a clear tiered process.
  • Build follow through so issues raised at the gemba are actually resolved.
