Firearm Safety and Range Discipline for Security Personnel

Armed security officers handle firearms daily, and negligent discharges, poor storage and unsafe handling create real risk for officers, clients and the public. This practical course reinforces safe handling, storage, cleaning and range discipline for personnel who already carry firearms in the course of their duties. The focus is on operational safety habits and the legal responsibilities that apply to firearm handling in the workplace across African jurisdictions.

What you will be able to do

  • Apply the core rules of safe firearm handling in every operational situation.
  • Carry out safe loading, unloading, making safe and holstering routines.
  • Store, sign out and account for firearms and ammunition securely at a site armoury.
  • Maintain and clean service firearms to keep them safe and serviceable.
  • Observe range discipline and safety commands during practice sessions.
  • Explain the legal duties and reporting obligations that follow a firearm incident.
