Emergency Operations Centre Management and Multi-Agency Coordination

When a major incident spans a site, a suburb or a region, an emergency operations centre becomes the hub that keeps decisions coordinated between company management, SAPS, fire services, emergency medical services and municipal disaster management. This course prepares delegates to set up, staff and run an operations centre, manage information flow and brief multiple agencies without confusion or duplicated effort.

What you will be able to do

  • Activate an emergency operations centre and allocate roles within a defined command structure.
  • Establish information flow between field teams, the operations centre and executive management.
  • Track resources, tasks and decisions using a common operating log throughout an incident.
  • Brief SAPS, fire services, emergency medical services and municipal disaster management as single points of contact.
  • Manage competing priorities and resource requests from multiple agencies during a prolonged incident.
  • Stand down an operations centre and transition to recovery once the incident is controlled.
