Eliminating the Seven Wastes: Muda, Mura and Muri in Practice

Waste hides in every process, from overproduction and waiting to unnecessary movement and rework, quietly raising the cost of doing business. This course gives teams a shared language for spotting the seven wastes together with unevenness and overburden, then acting to remove them. Delegates practise waste walks in a workplace setting so improvements are grounded in what actually happens on African shop floors and offices.

What you will be able to do

  • Define the seven wastes along with the concepts of unevenness and overburden.
  • Recognise each type of waste in manufacturing, service, and administrative processes.
  • Conduct a structured waste walk and record observations objectively.
  • Prioritise waste elimination opportunities by effort and impact.
  • Apply simple countermeasures to remove or reduce identified waste.
  • Sustain gains by embedding waste awareness in daily work.
