Design of Experiments for Process Optimisation

Production and process teams across South African industry often tune settings by trial and error, changing one factor at a time and never finding the best combination. This course introduces practical design of experiments so teams can test several factors at once, find the settings that give the best yield and quality, and prove the result with data. The methods are taught with worked factory examples rather than heavy theory.

What you will be able to do

  • Explain why one factor at a time testing wastes time and hides interactions.
  • Plan a factorial experiment that tests several process factors together.
  • Run a structured trial on a real process while controlling for noise.
  • Analyse experiment results to find the settings that optimise yield and quality.
  • Interpret interaction effects between process factors.
  • Translate experiment findings into standard operating settings for production.
