Continuous Flow and Cellular Manufacturing Cell Design

Batch and queue layouts create long lead times, high inventory, and hidden defects that only appear much later. This course teaches how to design manufacturing cells that let product flow one piece at a time through balanced, right sized workstations. Delegates learn to lay out a cell and balance the work so African manufacturers can shorten lead times and respond faster to customers.

What you will be able to do

  • Explain the benefits of continuous flow over batch and queue production.
  • Calculate takt time and use it to pace a manufacturing cell.
  • Balance work content across operators and stations.
  • Design a cell layout that supports one piece flow and easy movement.
  • Address quality, changeover, and material supply within the cell.
  • Plan the transition from a batch layout to flow without stopping supply.
