Contingency and Emergency Response Plan Development

Many African organisations own a dusty emergency plan that no one has tested, updated or read since it was written to satisfy an inspector. This course teaches teams to build practical contingency and emergency response plans that people can actually use when things go wrong. Participants learn to identify likely scenarios, assign clear roles, write usable procedures and keep plans alive through drills and regular review.

What you will be able to do

  • Identify the emergency scenarios most likely to affect an organisation.
  • Structure a contingency and emergency response plan that staff can follow.
  • Assign clear roles, responsibilities and command arrangements for emergencies.
  • Write procedures, call trees and checklists that work under pressure.
  • Test plans through drills and tabletop exercises to expose weaknesses.
  • Keep plans current through scheduled review and lessons learned.
