Canine Security Unit Deployment and Handler Management

Working dogs add strong deterrent and detection value to patrol, guarding and search operations across the region, but a canine unit only performs when handlers, kennels and deployment plans are managed properly. This course helps supervisors deploy patrol, detection and tracking dogs effectively, care for animal welfare, and manage the handlers who work with them. It covers planning, welfare, kennel hygiene and the legal considerations of using dogs in security work.

What you will be able to do

  • Match patrol, detection and tracking dogs to the right security tasks and sites.
  • Plan canine deployments that use the dogs strengths while managing their limits.
  • Manage animal welfare, feeding, veterinary care and rest cycles.
  • Maintain kennel hygiene, transport and heat management for working dogs.
  • Supervise and support handlers, including selection, bonding and discipline.
  • Apply the legal and liability considerations of deploying dogs in public and private spaces.
