Anti-Poaching and Wildlife Reserve Security Operations
Rhino, elephant and pangolin poaching remains a serious threat across African conservation areas, and reserves increasingly run structured security operations rather than ad hoc patrols. This course equips reserve managers and field ranger coordinators to plan patrols, use tracking and technology, coordinate with police and conservation authorities, and manage the welfare and discipline of field teams. Delegates work through realistic scenarios drawn from Southern and East African reserves.
What you will be able to do
Plan ranger patrols and observation posts using terrain, poaching pattern data and intelligence.
Deploy field technology such as thermal cameras, tracking collars and drones within legal limits.
Coordinate anti-poaching operations with police, wildlife authorities and neighbouring reserves.
Manage the welfare, rotation, discipline and safety of field ranger teams in remote conditions.
Preserve a poaching crime scene and handle evidence to support prosecution.
Build community relationships that reduce local participation in poaching networks.
