Writing Skills for Human Resources Practitioners

Human resources practitioners write some of the most legally sensitive documents in any organisation, from disciplinary notices to retrenchment letters and policy communications. This course strengthens the writing skills needed to produce HR documents that are fair, consistent, compliant with South African labour law, and defensible if challenged at the CCMA or in court.

What you will be able to do

  • Draft disciplinary notices and outcome letters that are procedurally fair and clearly worded.
  • Write retrenchment and restructuring communication that complies with South African labour legislation.
  • Structure performance management documentation that supports consistent decisions across the organisation.
  • Communicate difficult HR decisions to staff with clarity, empathy and appropriate tone.
  • Avoid ambiguous or inconsistent language that could weaken a case at the CCMA.
  • Maintain a consistent documentation trail that supports HR decisions under later scrutiny.
