Report Writing for Technical and Operational Teams

Most operational reports die in an inbox because the finding is buried on page four. This course rebuilds the way engineers, inspectors and operations staff structure written work, from the first line of the executive summary to the evidence that sits behind a recommendation. Delegates write on their own material.

What you will be able to do

  • Structure a report so the finding and the recommendation appear before the method.
  • Write an executive summary that a busy reader can act on without opening the annexures.
  • Separate observed fact, inference and opinion so that conclusions can be defended.
  • Present numerical results in tables and charts that a non technical reader can interpret.
  • Edit dense technical prose down without losing accuracy or qualification.
  • Apply a review checklist that catches the errors most often flagged by managers and auditors.
