Welding and Fabrication Repair for Maintenance Teams
Maintenance teams are often expected to weld up worn structures, patch failed brackets and fabricate replacement parts on short notice, yet not every artisan has been trained on the range of processes a plant demands. This programme strengthens practical welding and fabrication repair skills across common processes, with attention to joint preparation, distortion control and repair quality. It suits South African workshops where downtime pressure tempts teams into quick fixes that fail again within weeks.
What you will be able to do
Select the appropriate welding process for a given repair task and base material.
Prepare joints, edges and fit up to produce sound and repeatable welds.
Control distortion and residual stress during structural and plate repairs.
Identify common weld defects and their causes during visual inspection.
Fabricate simple replacement parts from drawings and site measurements.
Apply safe practice for hot work, ventilation and gas handling in the workshop.
