Waste Minimisation, Recycling and Extended Producer Responsibility

South African producers now carry extended producer responsibility obligations for packaging, electronics and other waste streams, while businesses everywhere want to send less to landfill. This programme equips delegates to design waste minimisation and recycling programmes and to meet producer responsibility duties. Delegates practise waste characterisation, diversion planning and reporting against scheme requirements.

What you will be able to do

  • Explain extended producer responsibility duties and covered product streams.
  • Conduct a waste characterisation study for a site or operation.
  • Design a waste minimisation and separation at source programme.
  • Set diversion targets and select recycling and reuse channels.
  • Engage staff and suppliers to sustain waste reduction behaviour.
  • Compile waste and producer responsibility reports for regulators and schemes.
