Sustainability Reporting Assurance and Third Party Verification

Investors, lenders and regulators increasingly expect African companies to have their sustainability and carbon disclosures independently assured, not just self declared. This course explains how assurance engagements work, what evidence auditors look for and how to prepare data that will stand up to scrutiny. Delegates learn to strengthen internal controls so that reported ESG figures are credible and defensible.

What you will be able to do

  • Distinguish between limited and reasonable assurance for sustainability information.
  • Explain the assurance process and the roles of preparers and independent verifiers.
  • Identify the evidence and documentation required to support reported ESG metrics.
  • Assess data collection systems and controls for completeness and accuracy.
  • Prepare for a verification engagement and respond to assurance findings.
  • Build an internal readiness plan that improves the reliability of sustainability data.
