Stakeholder Engagement and Project Communication

Technical delivery rarely sinks a project on its own; unmanaged stakeholders and poor communication do. This course develops the practical skills project professionals need to map stakeholders, understand what each one really wants and keep them engaged from initiation to handover. It pays particular attention to community, labour and government stakeholders that shape project outcomes across South Africa and the wider continent.

What you will be able to do

  • Identify and map project stakeholders by influence, interest and attitude.
  • Plan differentiated engagement for stakeholders with conflicting needs.
  • Design a communication plan that fits the audience, message and channel.
  • Engage community, labour and government stakeholders constructively.
  • Manage resistance, rumour and expectations before they escalate.
  • Measure whether stakeholder engagement is actually working and adjust it.
