Project Management Fundamentals for the South African Workplace

How projects get initiated, planned, executed and closed in South African organisations, taught through the actual tasks: scoping a vague request, building a schedule, costing it and reporting on it honestly. You return able to run a small project without borrowing someone else's templates.

What you will be able to do

  • Explain the full project life cycle and describe what must be produced and approved at each stage.
  • Translate a vague business request into a defensible project charter, scope statement and set of deliverables.
  • Build a work breakdown structure and convert it into a realistic activity schedule with dependencies.
  • Estimate effort, duration and cost using techniques appropriate to the quality of information available.
  • Design a reporting pack that gives sponsors an honest view of progress, spend and emerging problems.
  • Close a project properly by confirming acceptance, releasing resources and capturing lessons for the next one.
