Rotating Equipment Maintenance for Pumps, Compressors and Fans

Pumps, compressors and fans keep water treatment works, mines and factories running across the region, and their failure often stops production outright. This practical programme covers the construction, common failure modes and correct maintenance practice for these machines, including alignment, sealing and bearing fitment, so that technicians can repair and reassemble equipment to run reliably between overhauls.

What you will be able to do

  • Describe the construction and operating principles of common centrifugal and positive displacement machines.
  • Diagnose typical pump, compressor and fan failures from symptoms and inspection findings.
  • Carry out shaft alignment using dial indicator and laser methods to accepted tolerances.
  • Fit and remove bearings and seals using correct tools and heating or pulling methods.
  • Balance rotating components to reduce vibration and extend component life.
  • Plan and record overhaul work so that reassembly quality can be verified before startup.
