Remuneration, Reward and Benefits Design

Pay decisions carry legal weight in South Africa. Job grading, the equal pay for work of equal value provisions of the Employment Equity Act 55 of 1998, salary benchmarking against a scarce skills market, incentive design and the total cost to company structures that dominate local practice are all worked through.

What you will be able to do

  • Apply a job evaluation method consistently across roles and business units.
  • Construct salary bands and progression rules that survive scrutiny.
  • Test your pay structure against equal pay for work of equal value requirements.
  • Interpret salary survey data and adjust for sector, region and company size.
  • Design short term incentive schemes with measurable and affordable triggers.
  • Model the cost of annual increases against affordability and inflation assumptions.
