Labour Relations, Discipline and Dispute Resolution

Handle discipline, grievances and dismissals with confidence instead of anxiety. Grounded in the Labour Relations Act 66 of 1995 and the Basic Conditions of Employment Act 75 of 1997, the work is done through live role plays of hearings, appeals and conciliation rather than lectures on theory.

What you will be able to do

  • Apply the substantive and procedural fairness requirements that govern a lawful dismissal.
  • Distinguish misconduct, incapacity and operational requirements as separate dismissal grounds.
  • Investigate an allegation and assemble evidence that will withstand scrutiny.
  • Chair a disciplinary hearing and record findings, reasons and sanction properly.
  • Manage grievances and poor performance through counselling before formal steps.
  • Prepare a matter for conciliation and arbitration and present it clearly.
