Refractory Installation and Maintenance for Furnaces and Kilns

Furnaces, kilns, boilers and incinerators across African cement, metals and processing industries depend on refractory linings that fail expensively when neglected or poorly installed. This programme covers the practical selection, installation and maintenance of refractory materials. Delegates learn to inspect linings, plan repairs, install castables and bricks correctly and manage the dry out and heat up that protect a new lining.

What you will be able to do

  • Identify refractory material types and where each is best applied.
  • Inspect linings for wear, cracking, spalling and hot spots.
  • Plan refractory repairs and full reline scopes for shutdowns.
  • Install castable, brick and monolithic refractory to good practice.
  • Manage anchoring, joints and expansion allowances correctly.
  • Control dry out and heat up to protect new refractory linings.
