Quarry and Aggregate Production Operations Safety

Focuses on the specific hazards of quarrying and aggregate production, an industry that supplies construction across Africa yet often operates with limited formal safety systems. Participants learn to manage face stability, mobile plant, crushing circuits and dust in dimension stone, sand and aggregate operations. The programme is grounded in the realities of small and medium quarries serving regional building markets.

What you will be able to do

  • Assess quarry face stability and safe bench and highwall geometry.
  • Control mobile plant, tipping and pedestrian interaction on quarry benches.
  • Manage dust, noise and vibration exposure in aggregate production.
  • Apply safe procedures for face inspection, scaling and secondary breaking.
  • Establish traffic management and stockpile safety across the operation.
  • Develop a practical safety management approach for small and medium quarries.
