Proto Team Breathing Apparatus Operations and Rescue Fitness

Develops the practical skills mine rescue team members need to work safely in irrespirable atmospheres using self contained breathing apparatus. The course covers apparatus operation and checks, team discipline, heat and workload management and physical fitness for rescue work at Southern African mines. It complements broader emergency coordination by focusing on hands on rescue team readiness.

What you will be able to do

  • Operate and check self contained breathing apparatus correctly.
  • Work as a disciplined rescue team in irrespirable atmospheres.
  • Manage heat, workload and apparatus duration during rescue tasks.
  • Apply search, casualty handling and withdrawal procedures.
  • Maintain rescue equipment and prepare it for deployment.
  • Sustain the physical fitness standards required for rescue work.
