Project Value Engineering and Cost Optimisation

Cutting cost by cutting scope usually damages a project, while value engineering finds cheaper ways to deliver the same function. This course teaches structured value workshops that examine function, cost and worth to strip out waste without losing what the project is meant to achieve. It draws on construction, manufacturing and infrastructure examples common across the region.

What you will be able to do

  • Apply function analysis to separate what a deliverable does from how it is built.
  • Run value engineering workshops using a structured job plan.
  • Generate and screen alternatives that preserve function at lower cost.
  • Evaluate options against whole life cost rather than upfront price alone.
  • Quantify and document the savings from value engineering proposals.
  • Secure stakeholder agreement to implement selected value improvements.
