Project Sponsorship and Executive Ownership Skills

Research consistently shows that weak sponsorship is one of the biggest causes of project failure, yet senior leaders rarely receive guidance on how to sponsor well. This course is built for executives who own projects rather than manage them day to day. Delegates learn what active, effective sponsorship looks like and how to exercise it across an African organisation.

What you will be able to do

  • Describe the sponsor role and how it differs from that of the project manager.
  • Champion a project and secure the resources and decisions it needs to succeed.
  • Challenge project status reports and ask the questions that expose real risk.
  • Make timely decisions on scope, funding and escalated issues.
  • Hold project managers to account without stepping into their role.
  • Own the realisation of business benefits well after delivery is complete.
