Project Scope and Requirements Management

Scope creep rarely arrives as one dramatic change, it arrives as a series of small reasonable sounding requests that nobody costs properly. This course builds the discipline to define scope precisely, elicit requirements that stakeholders actually agree on, and run a change control process firm enough to protect the schedule and budget without freezing out legitimate business need.

What you will be able to do

  • Elicit requirements from stakeholders using structured interviews, workshops and documentation review.
  • Write scope statements and requirements specifications that reduce later ambiguity.
  • Distinguish must have requirements from preferences during scope negotiation.
  • Establish a scope baseline that project changes are measured against.
  • Run a change control process that costs and approves changes before they are actioned.
  • Defend scope decisions to stakeholders who ask for more once the project has started.
