Project Recovery and Turnaround for Troubled Projects

Every experienced South African project manager eventually inherits a project that is late, over budget and losing the confidence of its sponsors. This course gives a structured method for diagnosing what has gone wrong, stabilising the situation and rebuilding a credible path to delivery. It deals frankly with the difficult conversations, renegotiation and hard choices that recovery demands.

What you will be able to do

  • Diagnose the root causes of a failing project quickly and without blame.
  • Stabilise a project by containing scope, cost and schedule bleeding.
  • Rebuild a realistic recovery plan and re-baseline with stakeholder agreement.
  • Rebuild trust with sponsors, clients and delivery teams through honest communication.
  • Renegotiate commitments, contracts and expectations where the original plan is no longer viable.
  • Decide objectively when a project should be recovered, reset or responsibly stopped.
