Project Management for Mine Closure and Land Rehabilitation

Closing a mine responsibly is a project in its own right, spanning demolition, earthworks, water management and long term rehabilitation. This course covers how to plan and deliver closure and rehabilitation projects that meet obligations to communities and the environment. It draws on mine closure practice across African mining regions.

  • Plan mine closure projects across demolition, earthworks and rehabilitation.
  • Sequence closure activities to manage safety and environmental risk.
  • Manage water, waste and contaminated land through the project.
  • Coordinate regulators, communities and closure obligations.
  • Plan long term monitoring and aftercare of rehabilitated land.
