Project Management for Healthcare and Hospital Infrastructure

Building or upgrading a health facility is unusually demanding because the site often has to keep treating patients while construction continues around them. This course covers the full lifecycle of healthcare infrastructure projects, from clinical brief through commissioning of equipment and handover to operations. It draws on public and private hospital and clinic projects across African health systems.

What you will be able to do

  • Translate clinical service needs into a workable project brief and scope.
  • Plan phased construction that keeps clinical services running on site.
  • Coordinate medical equipment procurement, installation and commissioning.
  • Manage infection control, safety and regulatory requirements during works.
  • Engage clinical staff, funders and communities throughout the project.
  • Commission and hand over facilities so they are ready for patient use.
