Project Management for Events and Conferences

An event has a fixed, immovable deadline and a thousand moving parts, which makes it one of the most demanding projects anyone can run. This course applies solid project management discipline to conferences, launches, expos and public events in the South African context. Delegates learn to plan, budget, coordinate suppliers and manage the day itself so nothing is left to chance.

What you will be able to do

  • Translate an event brief into a clear scope, budget and delivery plan.
  • Build a detailed run sheet and critical path for the lead-up and the event day.
  • Source, brief and coordinate venues, suppliers and contractors reliably.
  • Manage the event budget and cash flow, including deposits and contingencies.
  • Plan for safety, permits and the risks that come with gatherings of people.
  • Run the event day calmly and capture lessons for the next one.
