Project Management for Emergency and Humanitarian Response

Humanitarian projects run under pressures ordinary projects never face, including compressed timelines, insecure environments and rapidly shifting needs. This course adapts project management to emergency response, covering rapid assessment, logistics under constraint and accountability to affected communities. It reflects the realities of relief and recovery work across the African continent.

What you will be able to do

  • Plan response projects quickly using rapid needs assessment data.
  • Set up logistics and supply lines under insecure or remote conditions.
  • Coordinate with clusters, donors and local authorities during a response.
  • Manage scope and priorities as the situation changes on the ground.
  • Build accountability and feedback mechanisms for affected populations.
  • Transition from emergency response into early recovery and handover.
