Project Feasibility, Estimation and Business Case Development

The decisions that most affect a project are made before it is ever approved, when someone estimates the cost, tests the feasibility and writes the business case. This course builds the skill to do that work rigorously, so organisations back the right projects for the right reasons. It uses South African funding, appraisal and approval contexts across both commercial and public sector settings.

What you will be able to do

  • Assess the technical, financial, commercial and social feasibility of a proposed project.
  • Produce cost and benefit estimates that are honest about uncertainty and assumptions.
  • Apply appraisal techniques including payback, net present value and cost benefit analysis.
  • Evaluate options systematically and recommend the strongest one.
  • Write a persuasive, evidence-based business case that survives scrutiny.
  • Link the business case to benefits that can be tracked after approval.
