Pipework and Pipe Fitting Maintenance for Process Plants

Process plants across Africa rely on kilometres of pipework carrying water, steam, chemicals and gases, yet leaks and joint failures remain a persistent maintenance headache. This programme equips fitters and maintenance staff to inspect, repair and replace pipework and fittings correctly. Delegates cover joint types, gasket selection, flange assembly and safe isolation so repairs hold and downtime is reduced.

What you will be able to do

  • Identify common pipework materials, fittings and joint types used on process plants.
  • Isolate, drain and depressurise pipework safely before carrying out maintenance.
  • Select and fit gaskets, seals and jointing compounds suited to the service conditions.
  • Assemble flanged and threaded joints to the correct sequence and tightness.
  • Diagnose leaks, corrosion and erosion and choose appropriate repair methods.
  • Inspect pipe supports, expansion allowances and lagging for defects.
