Performance Management and Accountability in Local Government

Councils sign performance agreements that nobody measures, then report achievements an auditor cannot verify. The organisational scorecard, senior manager performance agreements, portfolio of evidence standards, quarterly reporting, and how the annual report and the oversight report fit together.

What you will be able to do

  • Set up an organisational performance management system linked to the plan and implementation plan.
  • Write indicators that are specific, measurable and supported by verifiable evidence.
  • Draft and assess performance agreements for senior managers.
  • Assemble a portfolio of evidence that survives audit of predetermined objectives.
